The Secrets to an Unbreakable Marriage

I remember the first time that my husband Doug and I went to a marriage conference, probably 20+ years ago. I shared the fact that we were going with two friends but their responses were on opposite sides of the gamut. One friend was shocked and said something to the effect of, “Oh no! I didn’t know your marriage was in trouble! You two seem happy!” The other friend said, “How great! Have a wonderful time!”
While our marriage has had its share of ups and downs (as all marriages have), at the time of that particular conference we were in a great place. In fact, the reason we were going was because we had made a conscious decision to attend some sort of marriage conference/event at least once a year to KEEP our marriage strong. Marriage is hard work, but we have learned a lot along the way.
We believe that we have learned the secrets to an Unbreakable Marriage. They are:
With Jesus Christ at the center, a husband and wife:
Do life God’s way (living God’s way individually)
Do marriage God’s way (living God’s way as a couple) and
Do not let the enemy have his way (battling the real enemy effectively)
We know that we have an enemy who wants to target marriages, especially Christian ones. We need to learn effective ways to battle that enemy by living according to the ways that the Bible tells us.
One way you can learn more about this is to join Doug and me on a 12-week journey facilitating The Rendezvous Project. This video-led study focuses on concepts such as:
What the Larger Story entails
How to address opposition to marriage
Types of Intimacy
Understanding each other
Healing from emotional and relational wounds, and
Redeeming sex
Each session will give time for individual couples to have time in prayer and time to talk with their spouse privately about the prompts that are provided. Additionally, there will be time for discussion with the group (sharing only things you are comfortable sharing). The group will meet on Tuesday nights from 7-9 PM beginning on February 13 and ending on April 30 at WCC in Venue471. It is a big time commitment, but we believe that the investment in your marriage is well worth it! We hope you can join us.
