Sometimes a Tortoise, Sometimes a Hare!

And without faith it is impossible to please God because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him. 8 By faith Abraham, when called to go to a place he would later receive as his inheritance, obeyed and went, even though he did not know where he was going.

Hebrews 11:6&8

Remember Aesop’s Fable, “The Tortoise and the Hare”? This account of a race between unequal partners can apply to many life experiences.

Sometimes our projects seem to move along like the rabbit – relatively fast. At other times, more like the tortoise, slow and deliberate. The phrase “slow and steady wins the race” can be applied here. While I want things to move quickly, I am confident in moving with a planned direction and purpose, knowing that when we arrive at the finish line, we will win and probably be ahead of the rabbit! God, I want to do all of this in your time.

Worship Center Update

The new baptistery is on site! Prep work continues to make way for the baptistery – cutting the concrete floor, pouring a new floor, & rough in plumbing. The ceiling above the platform has been removed, and the HVAC ductwork is being modified and installed. Behind the platform, additional structural work is being performed to make way for the new concrete floor structure. Walls are being constructed on the “Tech Mezzanine” just outside the main restrooms to create private space for our live video production studio. A big THANK YOU to our Tech Director, Todd Schlaegel, for ensuring we are ready for worship on Sundays, as each week can be a surprise with all the changes – “High five,” Todd!

WCCares Update

Metal studs for the new walls are installed, and some ductwork is in place. The ceiling has been cleaned up and organized, and electrical prep work has begun. This will be a great space for WCCares!

Office Suite Update

Window openings for larger windows have been created on each side of the office building. Prep work is being completed to make way for a large structural beam to be installed to help create the open office space. The new private offices for the counseling center have been created with metal studs in place.

Safety First

This may be redundant, but here are two items to help maintain a safe work environment:

  1. Construction Entrance. The west drive is clearly marked “construction entrance” and will be used for subcontractors, equipment, supplies…and dumpsters! Please help us maintain a safe and secure place for them by only using the east boulevard entrance. Thank you!

  2. Construction areas are “hardhat only” locations, so please avoid entering. It seems safe, but you never know what you may trip over or run into. These areas are not occupiable for the public due to construction.

We Have Firewood!

Thanks so much to the 25 people who volunteered on April 22 to take down the rest of the trees and clean up the east property line, and thanks again to Lance Corven for leading the way in this effort!! A design is being completed to install new trees and shrubs in our empty parking lot islands and as required by Westerville Zoning along our property lines. If you need firewood, please help yourself to any downed lumber on our property – we need it all to disappear.

You Make a Big Difference!

Without the pledges and gifts from so many people, these large projects and improvements would not be possible. Your generosity and desire to move ahead, FEARLESSLY, have laid the groundwork for the future of Westerville Christian Church. As we “water this soil” through this campaign, we collectively call upon God to provide growth spiritually and numerically. May Jesus Christ be praised!

Thank you for participating in the Fearless Campaign and making a difference for the Kingdom at WCC.

Pledge Update:

Total Pledged: $2,561,114.22

Total Given: $1,291.991.46

If you have not had the opportunity to participate in the Fearless Campaign, it is not too late! If you would like to make a pledge, you may do so by contacting Lisa Crill at lisa@wcchurch.life.

Each month we will be posting the Fearless Campaign Update right here on our blog page.
