Our Story

Westerville Christian Church was founded on November 3, 1968.

Our church family gathered in a temporary meeting place until March 17, 1974 when the doors at 471 E. College Avenue officially opened. In the years to follow, WCC would not only grow in attendance, building square footage, and parking lot spaces – but also ministries provided, communities built, and lives changed.

For over 50 years, our community has been defined by living with purpose and being rooted in joy – working and walking out our faith alongside one another everyday. Together, we aim to live a life that is defined by hope in Jesus.

WCC is an independent, non-denominational, Bible-believing Christian Church.

Our Values

Our values define every aspect of life at Westerville Christian Church. They are our North Star, our guiding map for how we respond to God’s love and do life with the people around us. We won’t always get it right – that’s our humanity coming through.

By grace through faith, we will hold ourselves and each other accountable, and continue to show up in these ways, forever aspiring to live like Jesus.

Our Mission

Connecting everyone to jesus and his mission

Our Vision

Jesus is for everyone

We’re glad you found us. If you’ve been thinking, “I’d like to take a step toward God,” we can help. Whether you’re just beginning to think about Jesus or finding your way back to him, we’d love to shine some light on your path.

What kind of church is Westerville Christian Church? Simply put, we help people meet Jesus and tap the Bible’s wisdom. We are convinced that everyone can learn to follow Jesus, regardless of the starting point. We’ve seen it happen for people who thought they’d never find a church that connects.

Our Roadmap

We know that growth doesn’t happen in rows – but in circles that welcome us, challenge us, encourage us and ultimately inspire us. Our strategic roadmap is a four-step lifecycle with a few markers that help us see how we’re doing. This is the beat of our drum, what keeps us each in step with each other and pointed toward Jesus.

  • Identity Where do I get my identity?

  • With Christ Do I treasure time with God? Is prayer vital?

  • Scripture What is my “right now” scripture? Am I in the Word?

  • Community Am I in community? Who are my 2am friends?

  • Open Hands How am I giving my time, talent and treasure?

  • Multiplication Who am I a direct part of transforming and mobilizing? Am I willing to move out?

  • Three Who are my top three people I am sharing my story with?

  • We believe in the Bible, God’s Holy Word, Scripture. We believe God inspired the autographs (original writings) of the Scripture and those autographs are consequently without error! We accept the Bible as the final authority for all matters of faith and practice.

    Isaiah 40:8; Matthew 5:18; 24:35; Mark 12:36; John 14:26; 16:12-15; Acts 1:16; Romans 15:4; I Corinthians 2:12-13; 2 Timothy 3:14-16; Hebrews 4:12; 2 Peter 1:20-21; I Corinthians 2:12-13; 2 Timothy 3:14-16; Hebrews 4:12; 2 Peter 1:20-21

  • We believe in the Church of Jesus Christ, founded on the Day of Pentecost and consisting of all Christians everywhere.

  • We believe in God the Father, Almighty, Creator of all things visible and invisible.

    Genesis 1:1; Acts 17:24-28; Hebrews 11:3

  • We believe in Jesus Christ, God’s one and only Son, our one and only Savior, who is both fully human and fully divine, conceived of the Holy Spirit and the Virgin Mary. Who died and was buried, and who rose again bodily from the dead on the third day. Who ascended into Heaven and now sits at the right hand of the Father. Who will return to earth to judge both the living and the dead!

    Matthew 21:11; John 1:14; John 3:16; I John 4:9; 2 Peter 3:18

  • We believe in the Holy Spirit, who is God and indwells every Christian.

    John 16:5-15; Acts 1:7-8; Romans 8:26-27; I Corinthians 3:16; 6:19; 2 Timothy 1:14

  • We believe the Bible teaches that man, created by God, willfully sinned against God and is consequently lost and without hope apart from Jesus Christ. We believe the Bible teaches that salvation – the forgiveness of sin – is only by grace through the blood of Jesus Christ. We believe the Bible teaches that one receives God’s grace by putting faith in Christ, repenting of sin, confessing Christ and being immersed into Christ.

    Matthew 16:16; Acts 2:38; Romans 3:23; Romans 5:9; Romans 5:12; Romans 6:1-7; Romans 10:9; Ephesians 2:8, 9; I Peter 1:18-19; I Peter 3:21; 2 Peter 3:9; I John 4:15

  • We believe in the priority of prayer. God’s will is that we send word to Jesus and not be anxious.

    Matthew 6:33; Luke 11: 1-4; John 11:3; Philippians 4:4-6; James 5:13-16

  • We believe the Bible teaches that Jesus is the head of the church and the Elders are to exercise authority over the local congregation.

    Acts 20:28; Philippians 1:1; Colossians 1:18; I Timothy 3:1-7; Titus 1:5-9; I Peter 5:1-4
