A Night in Bethlehem is back!

Some of you may be asking…A Night in WHAT? If you are newer to Westerville Christian Church, boy, are you in for a wonderful adventure; and if you are not new or have been to NIB in the past, then you are as excited as we are!

A Night in Bethlehem is an immersive experience where our modern church is transformed into old Bethlehem. The lobby becomes a place to draw water from the well, receive your Denarii (coins) to spend at the many shops within the Worship Center and beyond, and meet some of the town’s natives who have wonderful news to share! The Worship Center becomes a marketplace full of animals, candy to “buy” with your Denarii, the Tannery to make a coin pouch or bracelet, or you can visit the Mosaic shop, Torah School, and so many more!

But most importantly, you will get to experience meeting the baby Jesus in a way that has touched so many hearts; the stories are endless. Come behold the Christ Child, nestled in His mother Mary’s arms and lovingly being watched over by His earthly father, Joseph. You will find them, in a stable in a cave, behind the Inn, where there was no room for them, waiting to share their great joy with you.

Luke 2:4-14

“So Joseph also went up from the town of Nazareth in Galilee to Judea, to Bethlehem the town of David, because he belonged to the house and line of David. He went there to register with Mary, who was pledged to be married to him and was expecting a child. While they were there, the time came for the baby to be born, and she gave birth to her firstborn, a son. She wrapped him in cloths and placed him in a manger, because there was no guest room available for them.

And there were shepherds living out in the fields nearby, keeping watch over their flocks at night. An angel of the Lord appeared to them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were terrified. But the angel said to them, “Do not be afraid. I bring you good news that will cause great joy for all the people. Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you; he is the Messiah, the Lord. This will be a sign to you: You will find a baby wrapped in cloths and lying in a manger.”

Suddenly a great company of the heavenly host appeared with the angel, praising God and saying,

“Glory to God in the highest heaven, and on earth peace to those on whom his favor rests.”

Come and experience this great journey for yourselves! You can do this in a number of ways.

  • Bring your whole family to walk through Bethlehem on December 1 or 2. You can register beginning on November 1 here.

    • We also have an Adaptive Night on November 30; NIB is adapted for those with exceptional needs and their families. You can sign up for Adaptive Night here.

  • Volunteer to set up/tear down (dates and times coming soon).

  • Be a character or a Shop Keeper and help the kids who walk through our Bethlehem experience all we have to offer. Sign up here.

  • Donate to NIB. It takes a LOT to put on a free event this large, so if you feel led to contribute to the supplies needed, you can do so here.

  • Volunteer at one of our work nights. Our next NIB work night is November 1st from 6p-8p. If you have them, please bring a rotary cutter with a mat and a Cricut machine with a laptop.

This event is our Christmas gift to our community. Whether you are a family with young kids coming to experience the night Jesus was born or a family with older kids who are serving together, a Night in Bethlehem will certainly be a night for everyone to remember!
