Binge Jesus

Binge is defined as “a period of excessive indulgence in an activity.”

No, I’m not advocating illegal drugs. “Binge” to me refers to watching some series on Amazon Prime, Netflix, or whatever your favorite media platform is. I don’t know how many shows you have to watch in a row to become a “binger.”  Is it three or more?  That doesn’t sound excessive to me; you might think differently. An opinion is like a nose; we all have one. I have binge-watched Jack Ryan and even The Big Bang Theory since I record several episodes on my DVR. I know, that’s old school.

I want to encourage you to binge Jesus.  How? Watch The Chosen; check it out here. My Pastor friend, Bob Russell, also wrote a blog about The Chosen. You can get his insights here.

Here’s a shameless plug, Bob is returning to Westerville Christian Church to preach on July 2, 2023.

I LOVE The Chosen series. For me, it’s the closest to actually walking in the footsteps of Jesus. Most episodes are between 30 minutes and one hour. By the time you finish Season 1, you will be at John chapter 4. This is where Jesus deliberately goes into Samaria to meet a Samaritan woman who desperately needs his kindness and forgiveness.

I downloaded the Chosen App called ANGEL. I usually watch one or two episodes every two to three days either on my phone or Smart TV. I don’t think that’s truly binging, but every episode has been amazing. You see how long the Jewish people have been waiting for a Messiah.  You see the jealousy and envy of the religious leaders that pushed them to kill the Son of God. You see Jesus call his disciples.  You see the confused looks on the disciple’s faces as Jesus takes them in another direction or teaches them something they have never thought of doing.

If you ever thought of starting a small group in your home, why not use The Chosen? Watch a riveting show for one hour and then discuss what you saw. Currently, there are three seasons. Why not begin today with Season 1, Episode 1? I promise you; Jack Ryan will not change your life. But binging Jesus will change you in every way possible.
