Song Highlight: No Longer Slaves

The song “No Longer Slaves” is all about being broken from our bondage of sin and fear.

I’ve recently realized that we get stuck in these cycles in life. Cycles of fear, guilt, uncertainty, and many other things. And it feels as if we can’t break free from them. My cycle was living the double lifestyle. Drunk on the weekends and church on Sundays, and I couldn’t break free from it.

What’s your cycle? What are you in bondage to? I want you to think about it, whether it’s drinking, lust, or simply being envious of others.

Why do we keep returning to the bondage of these things or people? Why do we run head-first back into sin as soon as we get the chance? Maybe because we’re afraid of change, right? The amazing thing about our God is that even when we return to those things, his love can still reach us and set us free. We don’t have to be afraid to leave it all behind. The Bible says God hasn’t given us a spirit of fear but power, love, and self-control.

So, whatever it is you’re a slave to, God says you don’t have to be a slave to that anymore!

Galatians 4:4-7

“But when the set time had fully come, God sent his Son, born of a woman, born under the law, to redeem those under the law, that we might receive adoption to sonship. Because you are his sons, God sent the Spirit of his Son into our hearts, the Spirit who calls out, “ Abba, Father.” So you are no longer a slave, but God’s child; and since you are his child, God has made you also an heir.”

We are heirs to God’s love and freedom! We have access to that key that releases us! Jesus dying for our sins unlocked all of our chains of bondage! So, no matter what’s holding you down, as we sing this next song, let’s sing it together to God. Not as slaves to our fears and doubts, but as children of the Most High King who lives forever!
