Ok Fine! I’m Grateful!

My daughter Cara and I were doing a little Target run shopping trip. She had some money to spend, and Target was the destination of choice (with Starbucks as a pit stop).

She started in the crafts and journal section and made her way closer to the books. I looked up and saw a journal with a very peculiar name.

OKAY FINE, I’M GRATEFUL!

To say that my curiosity was piqued is an understatement. I flipped through it and knew right away this was going to be a nice addition to my office and a way to get thoughts down on paper. This journal is not a faith journal. It does not list bible passages as motivation. It’s not God or Jesus focused at all. Just a journal to help you each day put some gratitude down on paper. Sometimes whether we want to or not.

I’ve come to find out that writing about what you are grateful for helps your present mood, better sleep, fewer symptoms of illness, and more happiness. This is from UC Berkley and the American Psychological Association. The goal of the journal is “pay more attention and find gratitude across the spectrum of your daily life, the tiny things and the major events. Forcing us to pay attention to the good things in life we might take for granted.” KnockKnockstuff.com.

So, with that in mind, what are you grateful for right now? Grab some paper and write it down. Who are you grateful for right now? Pick up the phone and call them, tell them why. Maybe you just needed a title like OKAY FINE, I’m Grateful to grab your attention to the gratitude you’ve been missing that is usually right in front of us.

Use this as your gratefulness springboard today:

Psalm 100: A psalm for giving grateful praise.

Shout for joy to the Lord, all the earth.   Worship the Lord with gladness; come before him with joyful songs.Know that the Lord is God. It is he who made us, and we are his[a]; we are his people, the sheep of his pasture.

Tell Jesus how grateful you are for Him. Tell God how grateful you are that he sent Jesus to us. Tell the Holy Spirit how grateful you are that you have a daily guide through life.

Let this new gratefulness be something for 5 minutes each day. It just might change your life forever.
