WCC & You

Happy New Year, friends!

The start of the new year always brings about new goals and resolutions that get us excited and focused on things to come. Maybe you plan on watching less TV and reading one book a month, eating healthier and exercising more, or maybe you plan to finally buy that new shiny “thing” that you’ve been dreaming of since your brother or sister showed it off to you (I’m not jealous! I just want one too!). Whatever your goals are, the start of the new year offers a breath of fresh air that puts the wind into your raft as you race towards your goals.

But what happens when that “fresh air” stops blowing, and your raft slowly drifts along? It becomes hard to remember the motivation you had to begin with, and honestly, just going with the flow isn’t that bad either, right?

Friends, I want to encourage you today! This is not what God wants from us! We were not created to be on our rafts alone and going with “the flow.” God calls each and every one of us to be active participants in life and to share our lives with others!

Hebrews 10:24-25 says, “And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds, not giving up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging one another—and all the more as you see the Day approaching.”

We should be doing life together in community with fellow believers! Instead of being alone, we can abandon our rafts for lifeboats with other believers who can encourage us to keep moving forward. Once we do that, what’s the next step?

Matthew 28:19 says, “Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”

We are called to move. We are called to be world shakers. We’re called to GO! I know this might seem daunting, but we can do all these things right here in our community. Here at WCC, we have a little something for everyone. We have many ministries that are always looking for volunteers to jump aboard and help us move forward. Would you consider joining us in reaching our community? Maybe this year is the year we abandon our selfish rafts for the lifeboat that is the grace of Jesus, and we keep moving forward with other believers towards creating disciples of all nations.
